Dr Amir is a Senior Consultant in Clinical Immunology, Allergy and Paediatrics and has been in private practice since 2011 and primarily based at Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur, which recently in March 2017, with the guidance of Dr Amir, established the first Allergy & Immunology Centre in the private healthcare sector in Malaysia, catering for children and adult patients. Prior to that he was an academician at Monash University, Sunway Campus Malaysia (2010) and Universiti Putra Malaysia (2006-2009). He has special interest in primary immunodeficiencies, eczema, chronic urticaria, food allergy, respiratory allergy, drug allergy, allergy immunotherapy and allergy diagnostics.

Dr Amir is currently the President of the Malaysian Society of Allergy and Immunology (MSAI), a post he has held since 2009. He is a Fellow of the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (ACAAI) and Fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (AAAAI) and a Board Member of the Asia Pacific Association of Allergy Asthma and Clinical Immunology (APAAACI). He serves on the Editorial Board of the official journal of APAAACI, AP Allergy, as well as the European Medical Journal (EMJ) Allergy & Immunology."
